Spring-like weather switching back to winter from Wednesday; Maybe snow this weekend
Netherlands residents who thought the current almost spring-like mildness was a sign that winter was over are in for an unpleasant surprise. The weather picture will shift from Wednesday, and by the weekend, it will be back to freezing temperatures and even some snow, Weeronline expects.
Monday will be dry with many sunny spells and temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius. Only the north will be colder, with temperatures between 3 and 7 degrees.
Tuesday will start sunny, but cloud cover will increase as the day progresses. Rain will start falling in more and more places from the southwest, kicking off a gray and wet spell. Maximums will range between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius, though the Wadden Islands will feel a bit colder due to a cold wind from the sea.
“On Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll see little to no sunshine, and it will rain frequently,” Weeronline meteorologist Matthijs van der Linden said. The wet weather will be accompanied by mild air, and even the north will see maximums approaching double digits for the first time in weeks.
But towards the weekend, the mild weather will come to an end. Daytime temperatures will climb to between 4 and 7 degrees, while thermometers will drop below freezing overnight. There will be precipitation, maybe falling in the form of snow. So expect more icy road warnings, Van der Linden warned.
