KLM resumes flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai amid regional tensions

KLM announced it will resume flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai this week after temporarily suspending service to the Middle East due to geopolitical tensions. Flights to Dubai restart Sunday, February 1, while flights to Tel Aviv are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.

The airline had previously resumed flights to Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia after suspending operations to multiple Middle Eastern destinations on January 23.

The initial suspension was attributed to the region’s “geopolitical situation,” including ongoing violent protests in Iran that have resulted in thousands of deaths and threats of potential U.S. military intervention.

“KLM always places the safety of passengers and staff first. Choosing safe and optimal routes is a core part of our daily operations,” the airline said in a January 31 update.

“Based on the current safety situation and operational feasibility, we have decided to resume our flights to Tel Aviv on February 2 and 3 with an adjusted schedule. From February 1 through 6, we will also fly to Dubai, with an adjusted schedule.” “We continue to follow the situation closely and will determine our flight schedules based on that,” KLM added.
