Woman taken to hospital after being rescued from Zeewolde-Zuid home fire
Firefighters rescued a woman from a smoke-filled home in Zeewolde-Zuid just after midnight Saturday and took her to a hospital for smoke inhalation, authorities said. The fire broke out at a house on the corner of Fluitekruid and Kaasjeskruid in the Kruidenbuurt, NOS reports.
The home was filled with smoke, preventing the resident from getting out on her own, according to the fire brigade. Firefighters guided the woman to an open attic window and evacuated her from the house using an aerial ladder platform. The platform was dispatched from Harderwijk to assist with the rescue.
Ambulance personnel treated the woman at the scene for smoke inhalation. As a precaution, she was transported to a hospital in Harderwijk. No other injuries were reported.
The fire was brought under control quickly, the regional safety authority said. During the response, the fire brigade escalated the fire to a medium-level classification.
