Customs seize 3,200 kilograms of THC-laced wine gums and honey at Schiphol
Customs authorities intercepted over 3,200 kilograms of wine gums and honey containing THC, the active ingredient in cannabis, during inspections near Schiphol Airport this week, Douane reported.
Customs officers used sniffer dogs to screen multiple cargo shipments. Further examination confirmed the presence of THC in both the honey and the wine gums.
The THC-laced products were scheduled for destruction at a later date. “Imagine if these ‘sweets’ reached the market and children accidentally ate them,” said Customs Officer Jeroen, who participated in the operation.
The seized drugs were handed over to the Cargo Harc-Team Schiphol, a cooperative unit including Dutch Customs, the Royal Marechaussee, and the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD). No arrests have been reported.
