Two Dutch badly hurt in separate skiing accidents in Tirol

Two Dutch nationals were seriously injured Tuesday while skiing in the Austrian state of Tirol, authorities reported. Both were airlifted by trauma helicopters to a hospital in Innsbruck, RTL reports.

A 74-year-old man fell violently on the Stubaier Gletscher, near the border with Italy. He went off-piste and struck his head on the hard, frozen snow, losing consciousness. A woman skiing nearby witnessed the accident and raised the alarm.

Meanwhile, in the Penken ski area east of Innsbruck, a 23-year-old Dutch snowboarder was descending a slope at high speed when he attempted a jump. He lost his balance, fell heavily, and slid toward the valley, coming to a stop approximately three meters off the piste. He sustained serious head injuries.

Both victims were transported by trauma helicopter to an Innsbruck hospital for emergency care. Tirol police confirmed the incidents but provided no further details about their current condition.
