Video: porsche, van destroyed in overnight blaze on Zwolle industrial estate
Two cars were left completely destroyed after a fire occurred on the Popovstraat in Zwolle at 12:27 A.M. on December 31. Fireworks residues were found near the vehicles. Authorities have not yet officially established whether the blaze was directly caused by fireworks, AD reported.
It involved a Porsche and a delivery van. Both were already fully engulfed in flames when the fire brigade arrived on a parking lot along Popovstraat, located in the Marslanden industrial park. Fires in this area are exceptionally dangerous due to the presence of large amounts of flammable materials and valuable inventory in the surrounding warehouses.
The Porsche and the van were completely destroyed, with only the hood, bumper, and badge of the Porsche still identifiable. A microcar parked nearby suffered slight damage.
The fire was one of several incidents during an unsettled night in Zwolle, which also saw a medium-scale blaze in an outbuilding on Anjerweg and a vehicle fire on Nijverheidstraat. The blaze in the Anjerweg outbuilding was classified as a medium-scale fire, prompting the deployment of extra crews and equipment to stop it from spreading to surrounding residences. The Nijverheidstraat is likewise part of the Marslanden industrial park and lies very close to Popovstraat.
While Zwolle has designated no-fireworks zones, industrial estates are often not a priority for enforcement, leaving them susceptible to vandalism away from public view.
