Schiedam Man arrested on suspicion of multiple sexual assaults, rape at massage parlor
A 47-year-old man from Schiedam was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. Five victims have come forward with accusations that the man committed the crimes at the massage parlor on the Vijverhofstraat in Rotterdam, where he worked as a masseuse.
The incidents occurred between late August and early December. Four women and one man have reported the crimes to the police. They are between 25 and 44 years old. Some of the victims had booked an appointment at the massage parlor as a result of a discount promotion posted on social media.
Sources told De Telegraaf that the man was employed at a salon that provided hot stone and chakra massages, along with laser-based body hair removal.
The man is currently being detained and questioned by the police. He will appear before the examining magistrate on Tuesday, who will decide whether his pre-trial detention will be extended.
Victim support has been offered to the victims. “It is also very important that the investigation can proceed without disruption. Investigators specializing in sexual offenses are specially trained to question victims and suspects in such cases. Still, this does not diminish the gravity and impact of the case,” the police said in a statement.
