Voting passes not delivered to hundreds addresses in Amsterdam neighborhood

In the Amsterdam neighborhood of Bos en Lommer, voting passes were not delivered to hundreds of addresses, even though they should have been, a municipal spokesperson confirmed after a report by AT5. PostNL conducted a random check in the neighborhood after reports of undelivered voting passes.

As a precaution, the municipality is sending a letter to all 1,300 households in the neighborhood, containing information about requesting a replacement voting pass.

City broadcaster AT5 reported that a local found stacks of voting passes loose on mailboxes. A PostNL spokesperson was unsure if this was true and said they were still investigating “the exact cause” of why some voting passes did not arrive.

“In our building on Hoofdweg, dozens of apartments didn’t get their voting passes delivered, even though the PostNL app said they were,” another local told AT5. “Dozens also weren’t delivered to the building next door. Everyone is now requesting replacements, so they were sent, but they appear to have been deliberately left undelivered.”

In Sittard-Geleen, over 2,000 voting passes were also not delivered. According to PostNL, the delivery person responsible for delivering those passes has been suspended. The postal worker was “negligent,” according to the spokesperson. “This generally goes well, but things can go wrong in such a large operation.” New voting passes have been sent and delivered in the Limburg municipality.
