Fatal fire in Zevenhoven leaves one dead, homes evacuated

One person died in a house fire in Zevenhoven, Zuid-Holland, early Sunday morning, De Telegraaf reported.

Fire crews found the victim inside the home on Dorpsstraat shortly after the blaze broke out, according to the regional safety authority. Despite resuscitation efforts and treatment by ambulance personnel, the person did not survive.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Several neighboring houses were evacuated as a precaution, and residents were given shelter in a nearby church. After the fire was extinguished around 3:40 a.m. and safety checks were completed, they were allowed to return home.
