Teen hospitalized after being hit by car in Bergschenhoek

A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Boterdorpseweg, Rijnmond reported.

The accident occurred around 4:25 p.m. The exact circumstances of the crash have not been disclosed.

Emergency responders transported the boy to a hospital. A 112 photographer reported that he suffered brain injuries.

The driver involved in the collision was taken into custody. A police spokesperson said the arrest was standard procedure. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
