Four of ten Dutch activists released in Israel after Gaza flotilla interception

Four of the ten Dutch participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla have been released by Israeli authorities after the interception of ships attempting to reach Gaza.

The flotilla, made up of about 40 vessels carrying more than 400 people, was stopped by the Israeli navy on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague confirmed that the first four Dutch activists are being flown to Madrid.“The first four Dutch participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla have just left Israel. They are flying to Madrid, where they will be received by colleagues from the Dutch embassy,” the ministry said.

The ministry added it is working to bring the remaining six Dutch participants home safely as quickly as possible. Many activists of other nationalities had already been released.
