Man hurt in Arnhem gunshot incident; Two women held for questioning
A man was seriously injured early Sunday in a shooting at an upper-floor apartment on Nieuwstad in Arnhem. Police took two women for witness questioning following the incident.
The shooting occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m., prompting an immediate response from multiple emergency services, including firefighters, paramedics, and a trauma team. The man was lifted from the apartment by a fire department aerial platform and rushed to a hospital. "An investigation was immediately started. Specialists from the forensic team are on site conducting further investigation,” Gelderland police said on X, previously Twitter.
Residents described the building to De Gelderlander as one that has previously caused disturbances and is “known to police,” citing issues including drug use and possibly prostitution. However, authorities have not confirmed these claims.
The street remains cordoned off, and police have deployed a mobile police unit. Authorities are urging anyone with information or CCTV footage from the area to come forward.
