Dutch man arrested at Munich Oktoberfest for sexual misconduct, released on €6,000 bail
Police in the German state of Bavaria arrested a 50-year-old Dutch man on Sunday for sexually inappropriate behavior during the opening day of Oktoberfest in Munich. According to Bavarian police, the man was accused of groping after grabbing a woman’s buttocks.
RTL reported that he was released after posting a bail of 6,000 euros. Four other visitors, including two Italians, were also taken into custody for similar offenses at the festival.
The arrest came as the 18-day Volksfest opened in southern Germany, where thousands of Dutch travelers are expected despite rising beer prices. Oktoberfest, which draws more than 7 million visitors each year, runs through Sunday, October 5.
According to the Dutch news agency ANP, large numbers of Dutch festivalgoers are still making the trip to Munich this year even though the price of a liter of beer has risen to between 14.50 and 15.80 euros. That marks an increase of more than 3.5 percent compared with 2024, which organizers attributed to inflation.
