Three killed in head-on collision on N355 near the village of Grijpskerk

Three people were killed Monday morning in a head-on crash on the N355 near the village of Grijpskerk, about 20 kilometers northeast of Groningen, police said.

The collision occurred around 9 a.m. along the provincial road that runs past the village, according to RTL. Emergency services responded quickly, with multiple ambulances and a trauma helicopter dispatched to the scene. The victims were in two separate vehicles.

Despite the large-scale response, all three victims died from their injuries. Police have not released their identities and said they are first notifying next of kin.

The N355 is currently closed in both directions as police conduct a full investigation into the cause of the crash.

Officers at the scene are examining the wreckage and gathering evidence. Police said more information will be shared once families have been informed.
