Two seriously injured in crash between car and truck on A1 near Terschuur

A collision between a passenger car and a truck on the A1 highway near Terschuur on Saturday morning left two people seriously injured, Omroep Gelderland reports. The crash occurred around 10:20 a.m. when the car struck the truck, causing the vehicle to end up against the guardrail.

Emergency responders rushed a man and a woman from the car to the UMC hospital in Utrecht with severe injuries. The highway was littered with debris from the accident scene.

Authorities fully closed the A1 in the direction of Amersfoort to all traffic. Vehicles were allowed to pass slowly through a parallel parking area beside the crash site, but the main road remained closed for police investigation.

Rijkswaterstaat announced a traffic diversion via the A12 and A50 highways. After the police completed their investigation, crews were tasked with clearing the roadway and repairing the damaged guardrail. The agency expected cleanup and repairs to continue until mid-afternoon.
