Gray and wet weather sticking around for at least another week

The Netherlands is in for at least another week of grey and wet weather, with only occasional sunshine and maximums just below the long-term average, according to the KNMI. Midway through next week, there is a good chance of the weather shifting to drier and warmer days, the meteorological institute said.

Today, the west and south may see some sunshine, but the rest of the country can expect clouds and occasional showers. Maximums will range between 19 degrees Celsius in the north and 23 degrees Celsius in the south, with a moderate west-to-northwesterly wind.

Thursday will start very cloudy and remain that way for most of the day. Several showers will move across the country. Maximums will climb to around 22 degrees with a moderate westerly wind, which may be strong along the coast.

Friday and the weekend will look much the same. Saturday will have the best chance of some sunshine (30 percent), but also the most rain. Maximums will be in the low twenties. The long-term average maximum for late July is 23.3 degrees Celsius.

The chilly and wet weather will persist into next week. “From the middle of next week, there is a fairly high probability (60%) of a transition to predominantly dry and warm weather,” the KNMI said.
