Busiest travel day at Schiphol; 86,000 departing passengers
Today will be the busiest travel day of the summer at Schiphol Airport. Some 86,000 departing passengers will travel through the airport today. Schiphol urged travelers to be well prepared.
In order to get through the crowded airport in a timely fashion, Schiphol advised travelers to book a time slot for security in advance. Don’t arrive at the airport too early or too late; check what time your check-in desk opens. Keep your passport and boarding pass handy, and opt in to receive updates about your flight on WhatsApp.
Also, make sure that you leave for the airport on time. Roadworks on the A4 are currently causing severe traffic disruptions toward the airport. “Prepare well for your journey, check your route planner, and leave on time. Take extra travel time and diversions into account. Or even better, travel by public transport if you can,” the airport advised.
But public transport users should also expect delays due to railworks. Limited trains are running between Amsterdam Zuid and Schiphol Airport stations until the end of the month.
Schiphol expects a total of 13 million travelers this summer, about 7 percent more than last year. That means an average of 200,000 arriving, departing, and transfer passengers moving through the airport per day.
