Ice pack after wisdom teeth removal gets woman fined for phoning while driving
Many people unsuccessfully challenge traffic fines, but Floortje from s-Hertogenbosch is pretty confident about her chances. She was fined 439 euros for using her phone behind the steering wheel on the A2 earlier this month. But the photo clearly shows that the “phone” was an ice pack she was holding to her cheek after getting her wisdom teeth removed the day before.
Floortje was shocked when she received the purple envelope stating that she received a fine of 439 euros for holding an “electronic mobile device” while driving, she told Omroep Brabant.
“I hardly ever make phone calls in the car, so I was really confused at first,” she said. “Until I suddenly remembered: I had my wisdom teeth removed the day before and was sitting with an ice pack pressed against my face!”
The ice pack is unmistakable in the photo she requested. “That ice pack is much bigger than a cell phone. And if you look closely, you can even see my phone sitting in its holder,” she told the broadcaster.
“My boyfriend and I had a good laugh about it last night,” Floortje said. She intends to challenge the fine and is not concerned about her chances of winning.
