Live gecko found hidden in fruit shipment at Jumbo supermarket in Veghel

Employees at a Jumbo supermarket in Veghel, Noord-Brabant, made an unusual discovery this weekend when they found a live gecko hidden among a shipment of fruit, local broadcaster Omroep Brabant reported.

The small lizard was placed into a plastic fruit container immediately after it was found.

The store staff then contacted the animal ambulance, which collected the reptile and transported it to De Oliemeulen animal park in Tilburg for care.

The origin of the gecko’s presence in the fruit shipment remains unclear. This species of gecko is not native to the Netherlands and typically inhabits warmer climates.
