Two suspects arrested in connection with disappearance of 13-year-old in Eindhoven
Two suspects were arrested on Thursday for alleged involvement in the disappearance of a 13-year-old boy in Eindhoven. The boy, named Tijn, has been missing since mid-January. The suspects are a 50-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman from Valkenswaard. They are part of the boy’s “immediate circle,” police reported on Friday. The arrests have not led to any info on the boy's location, thus far.
The police have stated that there is currently no reason to fear for the boy’s life. "But we are concerned about his well-being after months in hiding. He is probably not going to school, which also raises major concerns about his (social) development and mental health."
The teenager left his residence on January 14 without disclosing his destination. It was soon suspected that he had been taken from the custody of his legal guardians. Police have released images of the child during the search for him.
Both suspects are still under arrest. Their homes are being searched. Police also conducted an investigation in other areas. This led to them seizing data carriers.
Police have not ruled out more arrests related to this case. Because there are also links to Belgium within the boy's family and social circle, active calls are now also being made in Belgium to look out for the 13-year-old.
