Abundant sunshine and high temps this week; Back to cooler weather from the weekend

Netherlands residents can look forward to a week of sunshine and warm days, with temperatures hitting summer values from Wednesday. Best to enjoy this weather while it lasts, because from the weekend, the temperature will drop again considerably, Weeronline expects.

Tuesday started misty in some places, but the sun will soon sort that out. By the afternoon, it will be sunshine everywhere. Maximums will range between 18 degrees in the far north and 24 degrees in parts of Noord-Brabant, Limburg, and Gelderland. “In the coastal areas, a fresh wind will blow from the sea; despite this, it is still lovely beach weather.”

The weather will remain pleasant well into the evening, with temperatures only dropping significantly after sunset around 9:00 p.m. Minimums will eventually drop to around 7 degrees in the northwest and 10 degrees elsewhere.

Wednesday morning will see some cloud cover, but that will disappear as the day progresses. The day will warm up quickly, with thermometers topping 20 degrees in most places by noon. Maximums will hit summer values in many places, ranging between 22 and 26 degrees. The Wadden Islands will lag behind, with maximums around 19 degrees due to a cool wind from the sea.

Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with lots of sunshine and a weak wind from the west and southwest. Maximums will climb to around 22 degrees on the Wadden Islands, and between 25 and 28 degrees in the rest of the country.

Friday will still be warm, but with more clouds and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Maximums will range between 17 and 25 degrees, from the Wadden Islands to the south.

After Friday, the wind will turn to the north and bring considerably cooler air into the country. On Saturday, maximums in the northern provinces and coastal areas will only climb to around 15 or 17 degrees. The southeast could still hit 23 degrees, but no higher.

“The temperature drop will continue in the days after that,” Weeronline said. “On average, it will be around 12 degrees during the day. We will also leave the sunny weather behind us for the time being.”
