Man wanted for sexually assaulting at least 9 women in Rotterdam arrested in Barcelona
A man suspected of sexually assaulting at least nine women in Rotterdam late last year and early this year has been arrested in Barcelona, the Rotterdam police said. The suspect is a 34-year-old man with no fixed place of residence.
The Catalan police stopped the man for a check and discovered that an arrest warrant had been issued for him. He is in custody. It is not clear when he will be extradited to the Netherlands.
The Dutch authorities suspect the man of sexually assaulting multiple women in the center of Rotterdam and in the city’s Noord district between November 2024 and January 2025. “The sexual assaults mainly happened during busy nightlife periods during late night hours and early in the morning,” the police said in January.
Nine women pressed charges of sexual assault, and the police think there may have been more victims.
