Police seize 145 kilograms of hashish from boat off Scheveningen, one arrested
The Dutch police discovered 13 bags of hashish on a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) in Scheveningen's harbor last night. A 49-year-old man from Amsterdam was arrested in connection with the seizure, according to the police.
The operation began on Saturday evening when the Dutch Coast Guard alerted the police after spotting the RIB boat about 70 kilometers off the coast. The vessel had suffered engine failure and was unable to continue. A rescue boat from the Royal Dutch Rescue Society (KNRM) retrieved the RIB and brought it to Scheveningen's harbor.
Upon arrival, the police conducted a thorough inspection of the boat and its operator. During the search, they discovered the hashish, totaling 145 kilograms, with an estimated street value of approximately 1.5 million euros.
The man was taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking, including the import and export of controlled substances. The authorities have seized the drugs and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
