Two injured, one arrested after fire in The Hague apartment building
A fire in a portico apartment building in The Hague left two people injured early Saturday morning. The fire occurred on the top floor of the building, prompting emergency services to evacuate surrounding apartments, AD reports.
The police have arrested one individual in connection with the incident. However, authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the arrested person or the specific charges they face. An extensive investigation is reportedly ongoing.
The blaze broke out at around 8:00 a.m. at a residence on Dr. C. Hofstede de Grootstraat in the Loosduinen district. Firefighters quickly responded, rescuing one person from a balcony and another from inside the apartment. Both individuals sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Five additional nearby apartments were evacuated as a precaution, but all residents were able to exit safely. The fire has since been extinguished, and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
