Den Dolder expands community coach program following fatal stabbing

The forensic psychiatric institution Fivoor announced Saturday afternoon that it will expand its community coach program in Den Dolder starting Monday. The measure follows heightened concerns after the fatal stabbing of a 76-year-old woman last week, allegedly by a Fivoor patient.

The expanded schedule will see community coaches available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on weekends from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Fivoor stated on its website. The coaches are intended to be a resource for local residents and business owners with questions or concerns about safety or other issues related to the institution.

Fivoor emphasized that the coaches have already been engaging more actively in the village in recent weeks. "Starting Monday, an additional morning shift will be added to ensure greater accessibility for the community," the institution said.

The stabbing incident has sparked significant concerns among residents of Den Dolder. During a community meeting on Friday evening, Zeist Mayor Joyce Langenacker said she is considering additional measures in response to the incident.

The fatal stabbing occurred last week, with the suspect reportedly under Fivoor's care at the time. The case has raised questions about the institution's security protocols and its role in the community.
