The best oliebollen in the Netherlands: 2024 rankings announced

The annual rankings for the best oliebollen in the Netherlands have been released by Oliebollentestonline.nl, highlighting the top vendors of this traditional Dutch New Year’s treat.

Eethuys de Lind, located in Oisterwijk, secured the top position with a score of 9.5, earning recognition for its high-quality oliebollen and consistency. Bakkerij Olink in Spakenburg followed closely with a score of 9.4, while Bakkerij Hartog from Ouderkerk aan de Amstel earned third place with a 9.2. These bakeries have been praised for maintaining traditional preparation methods while ensuring the freshness and taste of their products.

Rob and Gonny Spronk, the husband-and-wife team running an oliebollen stand on Museumplein in Amsterdam, also received attention this year. Known for their dedication to producing fresh, affordable oliebollen, they focus on classic recipes. “A good oliebol should be accessible to everyone,” said Gonny Spronk in an interview with Het Parool. At their stand, a traditional oliebol costs 1.20 euros, significantly less than the city average.

Although the couple has introduced variations such as the "Dubai bol," featuring pistachio and chocolate filling, their classic oliebollen remain the most popular among customers. Gonny emphasized their commitment to quality, preparing all ingredients in-house and baking to meet high demand during the season. “We want every customer to leave satisfied,” she added.

The vendor at the lowest-ranked stand, located in Koudekerke, seemed unfazed by the poor rating. Claudia, the owner, told Omroep Zeeland, “A 1? That’s not so bad, then,” laughing off the result. She added, “I didn’t even know this test existed.” Despite the low score, she expressed little concern, noting that she doesn’t take the rankings too seriously.
