Many delays expected for rail travel and road users near Amsterdam-Zuid in 2025
The project Zuidasdok in Amsterdam-Zuid is warning road users and train travelers that there will be a lot of delays in 2025. Construction is underway on renewing and extending the station Amsterdam-Zuid, along with widening the motorway A10 Zuid and the reconstruction of the node De Nieuwe Meer. This involves "large-scale hindrance.”
The project organization requests special attention for several longer periods of disruption. There will be much fewer trains running from January 18 to January 27 at the station Amsterdam-Zuid. This will also happen again two months later, from March 15 to March 23.
Parts of the A10 Zuid motorway will be closed during the long Ascension Day weekend from May 28 to June 2. There will be fewer trains for 16 days, and the A10 Zuid and Oost going towards Utrecht and Hengelo will be closed from June 26 until July 12.
This could lead to an hour extra travel time. The busy Amstelveenseweg near the A1 will be closed for six weeks directly after this. That road will be closed from July 12 to August 20.
It was reported earlier this week by Rijkswaterstaat, the municipality of Amsterdam, and ProRail that Amsterdam is going to experience severe traffic delays in 2025. This will be because of construction on the motorways, local roads, and Amsterdam Centraal. Zuidasdok says that the work is "well coordinated.”
