Joost Klein tops list of most-watched music videos in the Netherlands on YouTube

The music video of Europapa by Joost Klein was the most watched music video on YouTube in the Netherlands this year, it came top in the list that was published by Google on Tuesday. The song was meant to be the Netherlands’ entry into the Eurovision Song Festival. However, Klein was disqualified from the competition.

Google is YouTube’s parent company. They did not report how many times the video has been watched in the Netherlands. The video has been watched over 52 million times since it was uploaded on February 29.

In second place is Daba Die Daba Daa, the song by Kinderen voor Kinderen for the King's Games. That has 12 million views. Then follows Brommers Kieken by Boer Harm. That video clip has been viewed 6.6 million times.

Sugardaddy by Roxy Dekker, Pretty Girls by Frenna, and Entourage by de Bankzitters were also included at the top of the list. The video of Beautiful Things by Benson Boone is the first non-Dutch song to appear on the list. It came in seventh place.

The top ten has one more song from outside the Netherlands in it, Houdini by US rap artist Eminem. Dutch music also dominated the annual review on the streaming platform Spotify.

YouTube has also released a ranking of the most viewed videos, and Dutch-made videos also lead this overview. A video of de Bankzitters with singer Roxy Dekker is the most viewed with almost three million views. The video in which vlogger Enzo Knol shows his newborn son Riven Khen to the world for the first time is in second place with 1.8 million views.
