One found dead after house fire in Zuid-Holland town
A person died in a house fire in the Zuid-Holand town of Roelofarendsveen early on Thursday morning. The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed to be the resident.
The fire department responded to the home on Mimosastraat just before 2:30 a.m. The fire spread quickly, and by the time the emergency services arrived, all floors of the row house were ablaze.
Neighbors managed to get outside safely, but there was no trace of the resident, Omroep West reports.
At around 5:10 a.m., the fire brigade had the fire under control. An hour later, firefighters confirmed that they found a deceased person in the house. The police are working on identifying them.
A fire brigade spokesperson told Omroep West that the blaze caused extensive damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
