Woman stabs ex-husband with knife during argument, trial in Breda

The court in Breda showed video footage on Friday of the stabbing in which Alex van Gool (41) was killed in October last year. The victim was found seriously injured on the Emmausplein in Sint Willebrord. His ex Priscilla de R. (39) has been charged with murder. The reason for the stabbing was an argument about how to deal with their son, as it turned out during the trial.

De R. had previously confessed to stabbing her ex. She and the victim were married and had a son together. When the woman got a new boyfriend after the divorce, this caused tensions and a fight arose about the visiting arrangements.

On October 15, things got out of hand. After an earlier fight that day, Van Gool and De R.'s boyfriend agreed to meet. "Hey moron, eight o'clock on the square", Van Gool sent. The suspect decided to go with her boyfriend and put a kitchen knife in her sleeve. “I hoped we could talk it out, but I did expect a fight,” De R. said.

When the suspect's boyfriend arrived at the agreed meeting point, Alex van Gool stormed up to him and immediately punched him. Shortly afterwards, de R. got out of the car and confronted the two arguing men, BN/De Stem reports. She addressed van Gool directly and stabbed him with the knife a short time later, camera footage shows.

"I did that because he gave me that look", she stated. After that, the victim was able to walk to his car and call 112, but resuscitation was no longer possible.

There is great interest in this sensitive case. The audience is spread across several rooms. The son, for example, is in a separate room with his family. Many members of Van Gool's motorcycle club are also present. The trial was interrupted once in the morning because the suspect was not feeling well.
