Gunman injures 2 in Rotterdam tram shooting; Vlissingen shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt
Two separate shooting incidents on Thursday afternoon left four people injured, including one person who later died. In one incident, a gunman opened fire on a moving tram in Rotterdam, wounding two. The fatal shooting took place in Vlissingen.
The Rotterdam shooting happened at about 1:15 p.m. when a man fired gunshots at a tram on Groene Hilledijk. Officers found three bullet cases. One of the two people who were wounded in the shooting stayed behind in the tram and was taken to the hospital. The other victim left the tram and has not been seen since. The suspect has also not been found as of yet.
Separately, an assailant opened fire on Visodeweg in Vlissingen just a few minutes before the Rotterdam incident. Officers found two victims at the scene of the crime. One of those has lost their life. The second victim has been taken to the hospital.
The police are investigating both incidents, with camera footage being looked at and witnesses being spoken to about the Rotterdam shooting incident. Officers are also calling on any witnesses of the shooting in Vlissingen to contact the police.
