Damage and closed roads due to fallen trees after thunderstorms

In Hollandsche Rading (Utrecht), several trees have fallen on the Graaf Floris V road. The fire department was on site to clear the road. Furthermore, a large tree fell in a sports park in Sassenheim during a football match. Although two people ended up under the tree, no one was injured, Omroep West reported.
No trains are running between Beilen and Assen due to a tree on the line. According to NS, it will take until Sunday 11:30 p.m. for trains to run normally again. Fewer trains are also running between Zwolle and Meppel due to a fallen tree.
The A28 near Spier (Drenthe) is closed because many trees are on the road. About 50 people who parked in an unsafe place with their car, for example, near leaning trees or branches, were taken care of in a touring bus. One person was trapped by a tree on top of their car, but there were no injuries, the safety region said. The A28 is expected to reopen at around 11:30 p.m. The N375 is also closed between Pesse and Zwartsluis due to “obstacles on the road,” the ANWB reported.
In the Frisian village of Houtigehage, several roofs of a residential building caught fire on Saturday evening after being struck by lightning. However, no one was injured.
Several more strong thunderstorms passed over Limburg on Saturday night. There is a “local risk of wind gusts and a slight risk of flooding,” especially in the south of Limburg, the national meteorological institute KNMI warned on Saturday.
According to Weeronline, after the stormy evening on Saturday, Sunday is expected to be sunny and dry. Only occasional showers may fall in the north. The westerly wind will be moderate over land and quite strong at sea and on the IJsselmeer.
