Princess Alexia decides to study in London after this summer
Princess Alexia is going to move to London after the summer. The second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will study at the University College London, where she will start the bachelor course Science & Engineering for Social Change in September, Government Information Service reported.
In June, 19-year-old Alexia said she did not know what she wanted to study. During the press conference surrounding the summer photo session, the princess said she was "a bit stressed about choosing" and that she had registered for different studies at different universities.
One of the options was to study at the University of Groningen (RUG). The university had already created an email address for Alexia. The Princess had a gap year last year. Her sister Princess Amalia chose to study in Amsterdam two years ago.
Her choice to study in London means Princess Alexia will return to the UK after a year’s absence. The second daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima spent two years in Wales between 2021 and 2023 at the United World College of the Atlantic.
Alexia completed her secondary education in St Donats and gained her International Baccalaureate, following in her father's footsteps, who also went to school in Wales. After graduating last year, the Princess took a gap year.
"A bit of traveling, working, and all sorts of things," said Alexia, now 19, about her plans before the gap year. What she did precisely during the year is not known. Alexia made her first working visit to Rotterdam in September, where she christened a ship.
