One injured in major brawl involving 50 people in Rotterdam

A person was injured during a major brawl on Coolsingel in Rotterdam on Saturday around 9:30 p.m. According to the police, about 50 people were involved in the brawl. The injured person was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The injured man was unconscious and was treated on the street by the ambulance. Shortly after, he regained consciousness and was rushed to the hospital, Rijnmond reported.

A few hours after the Summer Carnival was held in the city center, a fight broke out.The police and the Carnival organizers had been optimistic about the event's course earlier in the evening.

Last year, the street parade was overshadowed by several shootings and stabbings, in which several people were injured. To better ensure safety, there was no official evening program on Coolsingel this year. Although the parade finished around 7 p.m., the streets in the center remained crowded afterward.

However, it is unknown what the brawl was about. The brawl did not last long, according to a police spokeswoman. She also could not say how the victim was doing. The police have not made any arrests.
