Dutch man found dead in a van in France; Woman hurt by cow in Austria
The body of a 60-year-old Dutch man was discovered in an unlocked van in the French town of Hommarting on Friday. The local police are still investigating how he died. A 27-year-old Dutch woman got hurt by a cow when she tried to photograph it in the Austrian Alps.
The mayor of Hommarting, a town not far from the French city of Saardburg and the German border, discovered the Dutchman’s body on Friday after locals had noticed that the van hadn’t moved in several days, the Telegraaf reports. The Dutchman’s body was under a blanket and was already in a state of decomposition.
“What I found was not nice,” mayor Jean-Louis Nisse said. “I immediately closed the door again.”
The man’s wallet was on one of the van’s seats, helping the police identify him. An autopsy has been performed on his body. So far, it is unclear how and when he died. The investigation is ongoing.
Dutch tourist hurt in Austria
A 27-year-old Dutch tourist got attacked by a cow while hiking through the Alps near Sölden in Tyrol with a German man. She saw the cows lying in a meadow and left the path to take a picture of them, the Telegraaf reported. One cow did not like that and attacked.
According to the local police, the cow attacked the woman with its horn, hitting her in the thigh. Her companion pulled her back to the mountain path and called the mountain rescuers for help. They checked the Dutch woman over at the scene and then took her to a hospital by helicopter. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
