More complaints filed over video of Taylor Swift fans duped into exposing themselves
At least 300 complaints have now been filed about a sordid video featuring Taylor Swift fans tricked into demeaning themselves. In the video, a fan showed her breasts, and another kissed a stranger because they were promised a meeting with the singer, which was never actually organized.
Publicly funded broadcaster PowNed published the video last week with the title, "Gillende meisjes worden sletjes voor Taylor Swift," which translates as "Screaming girls turn into sluts for Taylor Swift." The video was published during Swift's sold-out Amsterdam performances as part of her Eras Tour.
Her last show at the Johan Cruijff Arena concluded on Saturday night. By Monday, about 70 complaints had been filed with the ombudsman for Dutch public broadcasting system NPO. That figure jumped to 300 by Wednesday afternoon.
Initially, PowNed insisted it would not take down the video, which featured women who were not disguised or pixelated when they were on camera. The woman who showed her breasts during the report also said she did not want it posted online.
After criticism, PowNed took the item offline and acknowledged that they had crossed a boundary. It is not yet known whether PowNed has apologized to the people involved in the stunt, or if they intend to do so.
Complaints were also filed with the Dutch Media Authority.
