Thousands of Odido customers affected by lengthy mobile network malfunction
Telecommunications company Odido was struggling with a mobile network outage on Sunday. The website allestoringen.nl received more than 45,000 reports from customers, many located in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Flevoland, who could not make phone calls or use their mobile internet.
The situation started around 11:30 a.m. The cause was "a fault in a router in the core network," a spokesperson explained. It was finally resolved about six hours later.
The spokesperson could not say if compensation would be available for the Odido customers affected. Furthermore, there were hundreds of reports about the brands Ben and Simpel, which are also under Odido control.
Odido Netherlands informed its customers on X that it was aware of the problems, and said during the outage that it was "looking for the cause and a quick solution." Customers were also advised to "keep restarting their device to see if it can already connect to the network."
