ING predicting a 25% increase to 40 million hotel overnight stays in 2030

The Netherlands is continuing to become increasingly popular with tourists, and the hotels are profiting from this. Researchers from ING Bank predict that the number of hotel overnight stays will rise to 40 million in 2030, a quarter more than in 2023.

The temperate climate will supposedly be a reason that more tourists choose to stay at a hotel in the Netherlands. After summers with extremely high temperatures in the south of Europe, the milder weather could make the Netherlands a more attractive travel destination.

ING claims that the stable geopolitical situation and high service levels have also made the Netherlands a favored destination. Hotels will likely also profit from an increase in Dutch travelers because the purchasing power looks set to increase in the years to come.

ING expects the number of hotel overnight stays to grow by four percent this year and next year. The number of hotel visitors will likely grow steadily in the following years, too.

The bank could not yet say what the effect of the increase in tax rates for overnight hotel stays that the coalition parties want to implement will be. However, they did note that hotel guests were not put off by the strong rise in prices in the last few years.
