Arrested foster parents' home vandelized; Vlaardingen girl still in critical condition
The home of the Vlaardingen foster parents in custody for seriously injuring a 10-year-old girl in their care was vandalized over the weekend. The windows of the home were smashed, the police said. The girl’s condition remains unchanged, AD reports.
The foster parents, both 37, took the unconscious child to a hospital two weeks ago. She has been hospitalized in critical condition since and hasn’t regained consciousness. The police arrested the foster parents for attempted manslaughter and severe child abuse.
The foster parents' arrest caused a lot of anger in the Indische Buurt, where locals reported to the municipality and authorities that the foster parents may be abusing the child. There have also been many angry posts about the abuse online. Last week, the police placed a camera on the street as a precaution, according to AD. Despite the camera, someone broke the large front window of the home and a window on the first floor.
The police are investigating the vandalism. The house is “part of a criminal investigation,” the police pointed out. “Vandalism of the home disrupts this investigation.”
