Police looking for English criminal in regards to double murder in 2017
An English criminal is possibly responsible for the murder of a couple in Amsterdam in 2017. The police announced this on Tuesday night in the show Opsporing Verzocht. Officers found the bodies of Piet Hoovers and his Thai wife Tae on Monday, July 17, in a home on the Ceintuurbaan after they were warned by friends and family of the couple. They were worried because they couldn't reach the two.
The police now think that the couple had been killed on July 15. Camera footage shown in the program shows the alleged culprit going by the address on three occasions during that day. Nobody was home the first time, the second time he committed the murder, and the third time was two and a half hours after the murder when he probably went back to cover his tracks, the police said.
Investigators have received information that the culprit is a British criminal and that's that he is an acquaintance of the victims. There were no signs of a break-in or any violence used to get into the home.
He was allegedly helped with the murder by Dutch citizens. Camera footage shows that he was dropped off twice and picked up by a dark grey Volkswagen Golf. The third time, he was dropped off in a white van. The police are looking for the drivers of these vehicles.
In 2018, a reward of 20,000 euros was promised for any information that would lead to the culprit's arrest. That reward still applies.
