Dutch tourists arrested after brawl in Tyrol, Austria; Six suspects, four hurt
Police in Austria were forced to intervene after two separate groups of Dutch tourists began to brawl in the center of the village of Westendorf. A total of six people were involved in the fight, the cause of which was under investigation. The suspects range in age from 24 to 51.
Police said in a statement that at least four people were injured as a result of the brawl. It was not immediately revealed if those who were hurt were also involved in the altercation. Their medical conditions were not revealed.
The incident happened at about 10 p.m. on Boxing Day. When police responded, they had to separate the two groups who were fighting, police said on Wednesday. The officers who came to the scene were dispatched from within the village, and several neighboring towns.
Once investigators finish questioning the suspects, the case will be handed over to prosecutors in Innsbruck. The suspects were also accused of violating several other laws in the Kitzbühel district, which also includes Westendorf.
Located in the Austrian state of Tyrol, Westendorf is a popular destination for winter sports tourism.
