Wilders behind bars in DENK's election program
Geert Wilders got a prominent place in DENK’s election program published on Tuesday. On the fourth page of the 104-page document, the PVV leader is depicted behind bars with the text: severely punish Muslim hatred. The message is part of ten short “thinkers,” with which DENK opens the election program. Another image is that of an adult chasing a child with the text: chemically castrate pedophiles, why not?
Other positions include making groceries affordable again, making homes accessible, and that the car should not be a “cash cow.” DENK also believes that the king should pay taxes and that citizens should not all be subject to additional taxes when it comes to things like meat, sugar, or plastic.
In the program titled “Now is the moment,” DENK writes that it wants Zwarte Piet to be legally banned, the maximum fine for discrimination offenses to be increased from 9,000 to 22,500 euros and the royal family to repay 500 million euros “that they have earned from the trade in enslaved people.”
For young people, the party wants full compensation for the student debt of the “unlucky generation” and for the interest on student debt to be fixed at 0 percent. In the housing market, the party wants to stimulate housing associations and limit rent increases.
DENK wants the Netherlands to recognize the Palestinian state and proposes an Israel tribunal “to try those responsible for crimes against the Palestinians.”
The party assumes it will have “a balanced budget” for its plans and will have the plans calculated by the CPB.
