If you're not vaccinated you'll get Covid-19, Acute Care boss warns
Every person not vaccinated against Covid-19 will get the coronavirus, Ernst Kuipers, chairman of the National Acute Care Network (LNAZ), said on TV program Jinek on Tuesday evening. According to the hospital boss, it remains essential not to allow all these infections to happen simultaneously to keep healthcare accessible. "If you want to keep care available to everyone, a cancer patient or a corona patient, then we have to do something about the total number of corona patients who come in during the winter," Kuipers said.
Due to the skyrocketing coronavirus infections, the Cabinet is considering which additional measures to take. A press conference will be held on Tuesday. Kuipers said that more measures are needed but that it is difficult to determine which ones. "If 87 percent of the population is vaccinated, then you have to look for what you can do. Because closing everything again is something we should not want," Kuipers said at Jinek.
He mentioned targeted measures in municipalities with many infections and a low vaccination rate as an option. "I heard a pastor from Staphorst say that he actually did not think it was unreasonable not to let the choir perform and also to do the church services online," said Kuipers, adding that he is not in charge of choosing measures. Staphorst, like several other municipalities in the Bible Belt, has a low vaccination rate.
The coronavirus is spreading faster and faster. The number of positive tests rose by 50 percent last week. The number of hospital admissions increased by 34 percent, and reported deaths increased by 62 percent.
