Two hurt in Utrecht shooting; four arrested

Two people were injured in a shooting on Zeehaenkade in Utrecht on Tuesday night. They were taken to hospital for treatment. Four suspects were arrested, the Utrecht police said on Twitter.

The shooting happened at around 10:00 p.m. in an office district south of Transwijk. The victims were conscious and able to talk to first responders, the police said.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately disclosed by police. The four suspects were taken to a police station for interrogation.

A witness told RTV Utrecht that they "heard several shots, over ten". Shortly after the shooting was reported to authorities, several ambulances were dispatched on the ground, as well as a trauma team in a helicopter, records show.
