Woman killed in Amsterdam Noord stabbing Thursday morning
A stabbing in an Amsterdam Noord apartment left one woman dead, police said. A suspect was arrested shortly after the Thursday morning incident, which police said was possibly a domestic violence case.
“A female victim was so badly wounded in the incident that she died [at the scene] from her injuries,” police said. Emergency services were dispatched to a home at Waterlandplein for a reported knifing at about 9:10 a.m., including police two ambulances, and a trauma team in a helicopter.
“A few kilometers away, police arrested a male suspect on Insulindeweg in Amsterdam Oost.”
No further information about the victim and the suspect was expected to be released by officials as the criminal investigation was being carried out. Trace evidence was being collected both at the crime scene and the arrest site, police said.
Authorities planned to carry out witness interviews throughout the day.
