Student hurt in fall from Delft student assoc. building
A 21-year-old man was injured when he fell backwards from a three-meter-high balustrade at the Delft Student Society Phoenix during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The student was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged with no serious injuries, the student association said in a statement, AD reports.
The student fell during a party that formed part of the student association's OWee-week - a week during which first-year students are welcomed to the new academic year. First Aid staff were already on site for the party and helped the young man right away. He was stabilized and taken to a hospital. The party was ended immediately after the accident.
"We as an association are of course very shocked by the incident and are keeping close contact", Student Society Phoenix said. "We are currently working hard to find out how this incident could have happened and how we can prevent similar incidents in the future."
The Student Society Phoenix forms part of the Delftsch Studenten Corps, one of the largest student associations in Delft.
