Eight Amsterdam cops reprimanded over drugs

The Amsterdam police took disciplinary measures against eight employees for being in possession of or using hard drugs in their free time, the police said in a statement.

All eight employees were suspended while the Security, Integrity and Complaints Department of the Amsterdam police investigates. The suspended police officers are suspected of a breach of duty.  "No further announcements will be made during the investigation", the police said.

A police spokesperson could not tell NH Nieuws whether these eight cases are connected.

The Amsterdam police seem to be cracking down on abuses in its force. Between end May and mid-July a total of seven Amsterdam police employees were suspended over a period of six weeks.
