Detainee commits suicide in police custody

A detainee took his own life in the police detention center on Mathildelaan in Eindhoven on Sunday. The police are investigating how this happened, the police said in a statement.

The man was found in his cell early on Sunday evening. Attempts to resuscitate him were to no avail. He died at the scene.

The man's relatives were informed of his death.

Detectives from the Den Bosch district and forensic investigators from the Zeeland-West-Brabant police unit are investigating how the man managed to take his own life while in police custody.
