Teenagers arrested for selling firearms online

Three teenagers from Ede and Bennekom were arrested on Wednesday for illegally selling weapons, including at least one automatic firearm, online, the police said in a statement. They will be arraigned on Friday.

Between mid-June and mid-July the police investigated the illegal sale of weapons on the internet, during which the police intercepted multiple weapons, including an automatic firearm. The investigation led the police to three teenage boys - an 18-year-old from Bennekom, and a 17-year-old and 18-year-old from Ede. They were arrested on Wednesday. At their homes the police confiscated various types o ammunition and data carriers.

The suspects are in custody for further investigation. They will be arraigned on Friday.

The police believe that more people are involved in this illegal arms trade. More arrests may follow, the police said.
