Festivals to ditch concert schedules for World Cup final

Football lovers who already bought tickets to attend a festival in the Netherlands this weekend, do not need to despair. A number of festivals realize that you can be both a music- and a football fan, and are therefore making arrangements to show the World Cup final between the Oranje Lionesses and the United States on Sunday.

Down the Rabbit Hole in Ewijk will broadcast the match live on big screens on Sunday. Main act Beirut was initially scheduled to perform then, but the singer had to cancel due to health problems. Which means that the World Cup match will be shown on the main stage at 5:00 p.m., De Gelderlader reports.

At We Are Electric Weekender, happening from Friday to Sunday in Boxtel, the World Cup final will be shown on a big screen. "We never doubted for a second about whether we should put up a big screen", organizer Paul Brouwer said to the Telegraaf. "It's just part of it." Most people would be able to watch the match on their phones if We Are Electric decided not to show it, he added. "But then you get thousands of people staring at their screens. With the large screen, we create more togetherness and hopefully the Oranje Lionesses in Lyon will feel our support from the Landgoed Velder."

Traveling theater festival De Parade, which is happening in The Hague from Friday until next Sunday, decided to broadcast the final after long deliberation on Thursday. The match will be shown in the Theater Tower, a spokesperson for the festival confirmed to the Telegraaf.
